According to reports, the film will begin shoot in the first half of 2025 and will be released by the end of the year. The filmmaker is allegedly finalizing his script.
The second half of 2024 appears to be rather exciting for film enthusiasts, as a slew of prominent films, including Alia Bhatt’s Jigra, will visit theaters in the following months. On Thursday, Alia unveiled a new poster for the Vasan Bala-directed film, in which she appears with Vedang Raina of The Archies.

Alia was astonished as she noticed something in the distance in the powerful new poster, which finally revealed what her appearance in Jigra will be. She wore black jeans, a filthy shirt, and a survival vest. She held a hammer and other tools in her hands.

Alia’s photo caption read: “Kahaani bahut lambi hai aur bhai ke paas waqt bahut bahut kam (The story is too long, but the time my brother has, too less).”
A fan wrote, “Wow, simply fantastic Alia… can’t wait.” Janhvi Kapoor, an actor, left a series of fire emojis in the comments section of Alia’s post. A person also commented, “Wow, another poster!! Just wow!! Now waiting for the teaser…”
Alia had uploaded Vedang’s new poster on Instagram hours before, with the caption, “Tu mere protection mein hai (You are under my protection).”
Alia Bhatt Takes Center Stage in the Film Jigra’s Cast
Alia uploaded photos from the Jigra sets in February 2024 after the film was completed, which was produced by both Dharma Productions and her own Eternal Sunshine Productions. Vasan Bala, who previously directed films such as Monica O My Darling, Peddlers, and Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, has teamed up with Alia for their first on-screen collaboration.
Jigra was announced last September. The introduction trailer teased that the film is about a sister’s love for her brother and her willingness to go to any length to protect him. Vedang’s second feature, Jigra, follows his debut last year with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies. The revised release date for Jigra was announced in June by the film’s producers. It was meant to be released on September 27, 2024, but audiences may now see it in theaters starting October 11. The announcement came after the creators of Telugu superstar Jr NTR’s Devara: Part 1 revealed that the highly anticipated pan-Indian film would be released on September 27.
