The Vicky Kaushal, Tripti Dimri, and Ammy Virk starrer “Bad Newz” is experiencing an below average run at the box office. The film opened with a decent βΉ8.50 crore nett on its first day, driven by the popular track “Tauba Tauba” and a well-received trailer. Despite this promising start, mixed audience reviews led to a lackluster weekend performance with no substantial growth, resulting in approximately βΉ30 crore nett over the first three days.
Recognizing the tepid audience response, Dharma Productions implemented a buy one get one (BOGO) offer starting from first Monday to boost ticket sales which continued throughout out the weekdays and even on Second Weekend.
However, “Bad Newz” faced significant competition from the releases of “Deadpool” and “Wolverine” on its second Friday. This competition severely impacted the film’s screen count and show availability. On its eighth day, “Bad Newz” collected βΉ2.20 crore nett, bringing its total to βΉ45 crore nett.
The film is projected to cross the βΉ50 crore mark by the end of its second weekend. From there, it is expected to aim for a lifetime collection in the range of βΉ60-65 crore nett.
Despite its initial promise, the overall verdict for “Bad Newz” is set to be below average, given its inability to sustain momentum at the box office. The mixed reviews and stiff competition have hampered its potential, making it a less impactful release than initially anticipated.
