Day one box office collection for The Buckingham Murders: Kareena Kapoor’s production debut as well as Hansal Mehta’s investigative thriller failed to attract many viewers on its first day of release in the United States. Sacnilk claims that the movie’s Friday earnings were merely ₹1.15 crore.
First-day box office
The language-wise breakdown of the ₹1.15 crore that Kareena’s movie took in on its first day of release in India is not mentioned in the report. Both the original Hinglish version (with 80% of the language in English and 20% in Hindi) and a Hindi-dubbed version of The Buckingham Murders were released. This week, it was the sole new Bollywood release. Its rivals are merely rereleases, such as Tumbbad and Veer-Zaara, and holdovers, like the hit film Stree 2, which is still doing rather well at the domestic box office.
When compared to Kareena’s previous female-driven movie, The Crew, which came out earlier this year and was also co-produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures, ₹1.15 crore seems like a small amount. The Crew, on the other hand, was an extravagant heist comedy that starred Tabu and Kriti Sanon as parallel leads, in contrast to The Buckingham Murders. On its first day at the domestic box office, it made nearly ₹10 crore, ten times more than The Buckingham Murders.
Sergeant Jasmeet ‘Jass’ Bhamra (Kareena) is at the center of the enigmatic drama as she copes with the death of her little son Ekam. She is given the case of Ishpreet, a youngster who goes missing and is about her son’s age. Chef Ranveer Brar also appears in the film. Kareena will also be seen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again in the upcoming months.
