Given how well-received both of the franchise’s films have been, “Aashiqui” has become quite a brand. The 1990 movie, which starred Rahul Roy and Annu Agarwal, is still cherished by viewers for its compelling story and outstanding soundtrack. In the meantime, “Aashiqui 2,” which starred Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, was released in 2013 and more than lived up to the popularity of the previous installment.
Vishesh Films was the original co-producer of the film in 1990 and held trademark registrations for “Aashiqui.” As a result, the court has finally decided in Vishesh Films’ favour following T-Series’ announcement of a movie with the same name. As per Justice Sanjeev Narula, T-Series’ usage of these titles would confuse consumers and weaken the ‘Aashiqui’ brand.
‘Aashiqui’ and ‘Aashiqui Ke Liye’ were trademarks that Vishesh Films had registered. However, these two businesses worked jointly on the follow-up. As a result, the production house and the court have now issued an order prohibiting them from using the franchise or this title without mutual consent. Vishesh Films claimed that this could mislead the public, which led to the issuance of this order. In addition, the court stated that it is crucial to preserve “Aashiqui’s” uniqueness because it has grown to be a crucial component of a well-known film series.
The managing director of Vishesh Films, Vishesh Bhatt, expressed his happiness with the ruling, saying it affirms their dedication to maintaining the legacy of their franchise. The court’s ruling also aimed to prevent deceiving customers and weakening the brand. In the meanwhile, “Aashiqui 3,” starring Kartik Aaryan, has also been revealed previously. However, there hasn’t been any new information on this one, and the hunt for the female lead is still ongoing!
