Dev’s long-awaited film Raghu Dakat is finally on the move after a four-year delay. The project, which was first introduced in 2021 with an eye-catching first look as Raghu Dakat, was helmed by Dhruva Banerjee. However, multiple setbacks prevented its production from starting. Meanwhile, despite the film’s stalled progress, Dev has not slowed down. He has continued to deliver one hit after another, including the massive success of Khadaan in December 2024, which has got everyone talking.
Khadaan, a commercial hit, marked Dev’s return to mainstream cinema after several years and fueled excitement for his next big project. Keeping his promise, Dev took to social media to unveil his intense look for Raghu Dakat at the start of 2025. In the newly shared image, half of his face is covered by a black cloth, with a vermilion tilak on his forehead and fierce eyes that capture the essence of the character. Along with the image, Dev confirmed that the film will hit theaters during this year’s Puja.
It was described as the “bandit with a cause.” Raghu Dakat could be cruel but heroic, somewhat like Robin Hood. Fans look forward to how Dev will personify this bigger-than-life character, especially coming from the current hype of its film release.
Raghu Dakat’s shoot will begin shortly, and the production company has been confirmed to be SVF in association with Dev Entertainment Ventures. This is after reports emerged that the producers were being changed, and it was even circulated that Surinder Films might take over the reins. Those reports have since been denied by Dev and Dhruv Banerjee, the director.
This is a film announced during Kali Puja in 2021, which promises to bring the untold story of Raghu Dakat’s rebellion against the British during the Blue Rebellion. Though the film was delayed from production, all doubts regarding its release have been cleared, and the film will now be made for a grand release in time for the New Year’s Puja.
Sources indicate that the script is complete and preparation for shooting is well underway, including scouting locations in Maharashtra. Fans are excited for what promises to be an epic action-packed historical drama.
