Following the success of his other iconic movie, Border (1997), Sunny Deol is making a comeback with Gadar 2, which lit up the box office last year. The makers of the much awaited sequel are putting together an amazing star cast from across India to support their claim that it is the country’s largest war picture. There have been rumours that Ayushmann Khurrana may play a parallel lead in the movie, while Deol will return to play Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri. The announcement that the creators have added yet another well-known actor to the roster increases the anticipation.
As per peeping moon, Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh has joined the cast of “Border 2,” alongside Sunny Deol. Dosanjh, known for his recent portrayal of the iconic Punjabi musician Amar Singh Chamkila in Imtiaz Ali’s well-received Netflix film, is set to take on another real-life role in this Indo-Pak war drama. Although specific details about his character are being kept under wraps, Dosanjh is eager about the opportunity to portray an authentic army officer. He will soon begin preparing for the role to ensure an accurate and compelling performance.
Given his regular working relationship with Border 2 director Anurag Singh, Dosanjh’s casting is not shocking. After working together on five films over the past twelve years, including the two Jatt & Juliet features Disco Singh, Punjab 1984, and Super Singh, the Border sequel only serves to further their collaboration. Regarding Ayushmann Khurrana’s casting, he hasn’t given his final consent yet and is currently in talks with the producers. We were unable to verify the rumours that Ahan Shetty, Suniel Shetty’s son, is also in the cast.
Ammy Virk, a well-known Punjabi actor, was recently seen in the film “Bad Newz.” There were rumors that he would be joining another film project. However, it is currently unclear whether he is still involved in this new film. There is speculation that Diljit Dosanjh might take over the character that was originally intended for Ammy Virk. The uncertainty surrounding their roles has generated interest and discussions among fans and industry insiders, eager to see how the casting will ultimately play out.
“Border 2” is a highly anticipated sequel to the 1997 classic film “Border,” directed by J.P. Dutta. Although the plot details have not been officially disclosed, media reports suggest that the film will be set on the same night as the original movie’s events, focusing on the Battle of Longewala. Unlike its predecessor, which primarily highlighted the Indian Army’s role, “Border 2” aims to portray the perspectives of all three wings of the Indian armed forces: the Army, Navy, and Air Force. This comprehensive approach promises a more in-depth and multifaceted depiction of the historic battle.
The sequel will see a change in directorial leadership, with Anurag Singh taking over from J.P. Dutta. Anurag Singh is well-known for his work in the Hindi film industry, particularly for directing “Kesari,” which starred Akshay Kumar. This change in direction brings a fresh perspective to the project while maintaining the essence of the original film.
Currently in the pre-production stage, “Border 2” is scheduled to begin filming around November 2024. The filmmakers are aiming for a theatrical release on the Republic Day weekend in 2026, aligning with the patriotic themes of the movie. This timeline allows ample time for production and post-production, ensuring that the film meets the high expectations set by its predecessor.
Overall, “Border 2” is shaping up to be a significant cinematic event, with its focus on a historic battle, a new directorial vision, and a strategic release plan that promises to capture the patriotic spirit of the audience.
