“Samay ka pahiya gol hai, jo beet gaya woh fir laut ke aayega…darwaaza bhi ek baar phir khulega (Time moves in circles)” is the voiceover that Sohum Shah provided for the teaser video, which he posted to his Instagram account on Saturday. The video features Vinayak and his son Pandurang. What has already happened will happen again. The door will open again. The ominous line “Pralay, Pralay phir aayega,” which closes the teaser, refers to a more sinister and expansive sequel.
After being re-released, Tumbbad broke all previous box office records, even outperforming classic movies like “Sholay,” “Mughal-e-Azam,” and “Rockstar” in terms of first-day receipts.

The film’s star and producer, Sohum Shah, expressed his excitement about the sequel in a statement released by the PR team. He said, “To see the love it continues to receive is overwhelming and only ratifies our belief and ethos of Sohum Shah Films, that content is king.” Tumbabad has been a special journey and a labor of love for the team.
“With Tumbbad 2, we aim to further push the boundaries and cinematic experience. With larger surprises and a more intense investigation of what happens when greed has no bounds, Tumbbad 2 will take viewers further into the universe we’ve built,” he continued. On September 13, Tumbadd, which debuted in 2018, made a comeback to theaters. It shows the main character, Vinayak Rao, played by Sohum Shah, and his little kid trudging through the dark night with a lantern in hand. The narrative’s arduous quest is hinted at when the two are spotted traveling on a treacherous journey.
Rahi Anil Barve is the director; Adesh Prasad is the co-director and Anand Gandhi is the creative director. Produced by Sohum Shah, Aanand L Rai, Mukesh Shah, and Amita Shah, the movie was written by Mitesh Shah, Prasad, Barve, and Gandhi. The narrative tracks Vinayak Rao’s spiral into obsession and greed as he searches for a fabled treasure that the evil Hastar is guarding. At the 64th Filmfare Awards, Tumbbad was a critical and commercial triumph, receiving eight nominations and taking home three prizes—Best Art Direction, Best Sound Design, and Best Cinematography.
