Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD is one of the most anticipated films of 2024. It was released on June 27 and is the first installment in the Kalki world. The franchise’s producers have indicated that filming for the second installment will begin in early 2025. During an interview with News18, Vyjayanthi Movies’ Priyanka Dutt and Swapna Dutt announced that Kalki 2 will begin shooting in the next “five or six months.” Priyanka stated, “The filming will begin in the next five to six months (January or February 2025). We’ll be able to discuss it further once it starts.”
The creators also stated that they are more confident this time around compared to the making of Kalki 2898 AD. “This time, there’s much more excitement than nervousness. I believe there will be a lot more planning now. Whatever we did for Part One, we were all following Nag Ashwin’s vision. Most of the time, you don’t understand something unless you see it visually. “Now that we’ve seen everything Nagi has done and understand how the audience has received it, we’re moving on to part two with a completely different energy,” Swapna Dutt explained.
In July, Vyjayanthi Films published a video on X (previously Twitter) in which Prabhas thanked the public for making Kalki 2898 AD a “huge hit”. He asked, “Hello, how are you? My fans are extremely grateful for delivering me such a big hit. Thank you very much. Without you, I am nothing. Thanks to Nag Ashwin (director), who worked tirelessly for five years to create such a massive picture.
Kalki 2898 AD takes place in a post-apocalyptic universe. To attract a bigger audience, the sci-fi mythological drama was aired in several languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English. The cast included Prabhas as Bhairava, Deepika Padukone as Sumati, Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama, Kamal Haasan as Supreme Yaskin, and Disha Patani as Roxie.
Kalki 2898 AD is presently available to view on Netflix and Prime Video.
