Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s series “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar” has gotten two nominations for the Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards, which will be held during the Busan International Film Festival.
“Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” which is set in pre-independence India and stars Manisha Koirala, Sharmin Segal, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, and Sanjeeda Sheikh in the lead roles as courtesans whose lives revolve around the red-light district of Heeramandi in Lahore during the British rule, went live on Netflix on May 1. The creators of the show confirmed the release of a second season after its successful run. The program is nominated for Best OTT Original and Best Original Song for “Sakal Ban” at the Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards.
Being a nominee for the Asia Contents Awards is a privilege. In a statement, Bhansali stated, “I’m thankful to the jury and the audiences for this amazing recognition.”
The popular Chinese series “The Double,” the Korean fantasy mystery thriller “Death’s Game,” the Taiwanese crime comedy series “GG Precinct,” the Korean period drama “Uncle Samsik,” and the Korean series “Boyhood” are among the other contenders in the Best OTT Original category.
The other names are “Learn to Live Again” from the Taiwanese television series “Imperfect Us” under the Best Original Song category. “Let’s Try” from the Thai series “Only Friends” and “Sonaki” from the popular Korean series “Lovely Runner”
The awards got 201 nominations in total from 16 different countries in 2024. Eleven competitive categories have seen the final nomination of 41 works from 10 nations. Other candidates for the upcoming Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards include Wong Kar-wai’s Chinese drama “Blossoms Shanghai”. “Cigarette Girl” is an Indonesian television series created by Kamila Andini and Ifa Isfansyah. Lee Jae-kyoo and Kim Nam-su’s Korean drama “Daily Dose of Sunshine”; Thai series “Enigma”; Korean drama “A Killer Paradox”; and Japanese drama “VIVANT”
The series “1286”, “Imperfect Us”, “Imperfect Victim”, Singapore show “The Last Bout”, Japanese drama “SHUT UP”, and Chinese series “To the Wonder” have all been nominated for Best Asian Content. The Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards 2024 event will take place on October 6 at the Busan Cinema Center’s BIFF theatre in South Korea.
