Pooja Entertainment, led by producers Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani, is facing a legal tussle with streaming giant Netflix for nearly 47.37 crores. Bhagnani has sued Netflix for cheating and non-payment of dues, claiming it owes them money. Despite Netflix’s denial and claims that it is Pooja Entertainment, the Economic Offenses Wing’s case is now under investigation, which appears to favor Bhagnanis due to Netflix India’s non-cooperation.
Netflix owes ₹47.37 crores to complainant Vashu Bhagnani, but the company is not cooperating. The company has sent two summonses but has not responded to the letter. Bhagnanis visited in April, recorded statements, and collected necessary documents. Netflix has asked for time but has not provided a response. Monica Shergill, Content Head at Netflix India, should appear. The investigating officer is not aware of Netflix’s counter claim on Bhagnanis, but is aware of their media statement.
Netflix denied allegations that Pooja Entertainment owes them money and stated that they have a strong partnership with the Indian creative community and are working with authorities to resolve the dispute. Vashu Bhagnani, the creator of the film, registered the case against Netflix in April and has faith in the EOW to resolve the matter.
