The general technical director of Moana 2, which is scheduled for release in India, recently expressed his thoughts on the casting of a Desi live-action adaptation. On November 29, 2024, Moana 2, the follow-up to the 2016 American animated film Moana, will be released in Indian theaters. Norman Joseph, the film’s general technical director, has offered his opinions on the casting of any Indian live-action adaptation. He concurred that Varun Dhawan as Maui and Alia Bhatt as Moana would be a “good choice.
“Norman Joseph, the general technical director of Moana 2, stated in a recent interview with News18 Showsha that since Maui was older than Moana, age would be a significant consideration while choosing names for an Indian live-action adaptation of the Disney movie.
“But honestly, I can’t pinpoint specific names because there are just so many great options,” he added, referring to the abundance of options. Norman said, “I guess so, yeah, that would be a good choice,” when the portal questioned if he could picture Alia Bhatt as Moana and Varun Dhawan as Maui. In Moana 2, Auliʻi Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson will reprise their roles as Moana and Maui’s voices. Other members of the cast include Gerald Ramsey, Temuera Morrison, Nicole Scherzinger, Rachel House, Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda, Rose Matafeo, and David Fane. Dana Ledoux Miller, Jason Hand, and David Derrick Jr. are the directors of the musical adventure movie.
