Filmmaker Kabir Khan has stated that he is happy of his film Chandu Champion, regardless of its box office performance. Kabir Khan’s directorial Chandu Champion, starring Kartik Aaryan, failed to meet expectations at the box office. But the filmmaker seems unconcerned about it, stating that he is more interested with the affection he receives from the audience and the legacy it leaves.
Navigating Challenges: Kabir’s Steady Path in Filmmaking
In the interview, Kabir stated that box office figures are important to him, but not as much as the audience’s adoration.
“Any director who claims that box office does not matter is not telling the truth; it does. However, it is not the only way to evaluate a film. The most important thing to me is how well the film is remembered and discussed after some time has passed. There have been repeat viewings on OTT for Chandu Champion currently and 83 (2021) earlier,” Kabir remarked.
He continued, “People kept returning to the film. That demonstrates a film’s legacy and how long it remains in people’s memories. My debut picture, Kabul Express [2006], had the lowest box office numbers of any of my projects. But even after 18 years, people come up to me and tell they enjoyed it. So, there are many different metrics that you can use nowadays to determine how deeply a film is connected. “The movie was released on June 14. Chandu Champion earned ₹5.40 crore on its first day (Friday) and ₹7.70 crore on its second day, representing a 45% increase.
Kartik Aaryan and Kabir won Best Actor and Best Director awards at a recent film festival.
In the same interview, Kabir stated that the prize is exceptional since it comes from “an international jury, composed of renowned filmmakers and critics who will decide only on the basis of the film”. Kabir explained that it provides a sense of validation.Analyzing the Film: Important Points to Remember
