Vasan Bala recently voiced his displeasure with Karan Johar for delivering Alia Bhatt the Jigra screenplay without getting his permission. Johar has now responded to the misunderstandings around the same.
The director of Jigra, Vasan Bala, recently revealed that he was “not happy” about Karan Johar sending an incomplete script of his film to Alia Bhatt without getting his consent. This information sparked debate over nepotism and favouritism in Bollywood and led to a backlash against Johar. “I fold my hands and tell everyone please hear and read entire interviews before making clickbait assumptions,” Karan said in response to the casting issue around Jigra.
Johar wrote on his Instagram account, “A while back, Twitter became X and became my X. I silenced the unnecessary angst and ended the queasy noise. However, social media is like the Lockness monster—it follows you even when you’re not aware of it. As a result, it was overrun with posts on Vasan Bala’s interview, which he responded to with such love and innocence.”
“The gore misinterpretation of his comment about me sending the script to Alia without his grammar checks made me laugh at first at how ridiculous it was all, but now it’s really bothering me,” the director continued. You will completely understand why Vasan is one of my most amazing and skilled partners if you watch his interview and listen to his tone! BUT NO… there’s a lot of fuss made about nothing.
“I fold my hands and ask that before jumping to conclusions based solely on clickbait, listen to and read the full interviews. “To all of you, loads of love,” he said in closing.Vasan revealed that he had written Josh a fairly poor email, characterising it as a stream of consciousness in which he merely scribbled down his ideas, in an interview with Tried & Refused Productions. He remembered that Karan had called him a few hours later to let him know that he had already given Alia the email.
Vasan conveyed his disappointment, saying he didn’t like the outcome and wondered why it was delivered in such a crude manner. He added that he would have at the very least done a spell check, fixed the grammar and perhaps enhanced the hero’s contribution.
On October 11, 2024, Jigra, starring Alia and Vedang Raina, is scheduled to open in theatres.
