Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan expressed her desire to share the screen with her idol Meryl Streep and explore working in Korean dramas. She stated that language is not a barrier today and that she has never pursued any dreams to go to Hollywood. “I’m a huge fan of Meryl Streep, I’d want to stand in the same frame as her. Anything is possible. Who knows, maybe a Korean film? I’d love to explore K-dramas, everyone’s watching them,” she said at the event.
Kareena also highlighted the global craze and respect for Indian movies, stating that their films are true to their culture and heritage, authentic, and enjoyed in their languages. She praised her co-star Diljit Dosanjh for putting India on “global billboards” and praising “Laapataa Ladies” as India’s official Oscars entry. She also urged people to watch more Indian films in Indian languages, stating that the language is easy to understand and can be understood more through OTT with subtitles.
Kareena also discussed the evolution of Indian fashion, highlighting the success of designers like Amit Aggarwal and Manish Malhotra using Indian artisans to the core. She mentioned that “Crew,” a women-led heist comedy, has grossed over ₹100 crore at the box office and showed that women can do it too. Kareena also shared her advice to young girls: “Saying no shouldn’t make you feel you are not confident. No means no. No is an answer that should always be something that should be reassuring rather than making you feel underconfident.” She also addressed the issue of pay disparity in the film industry, saying that if a film is not worthy for her character or herself, she won’t do it. Kareena revealed that “The Buckingham Murders” will start streaming on Netflix from November 8.
