Director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s much-loved romantic comedy Bareilly Ki Barfi is all set to return to the silver screen on February 7th, 2025, right in time for Valentine’s week. The film, which released in 2017, was a huge box office success, earning appreciation for its stellar performances, small-town setting, and comic elements.
The movie features Kriti Sanon as Bitti Mishra, a progressive, tomboyish girl from Bareilly who is on a mission to find the author of a book that resonates with her. This lands her in Ayushmann Khurrana’s character, Chirag, a publisher who is not honest about the fact that he was the original author, and Rajkummar Rao’s Pritam Vidrohi, the innocent man caught in a hilarious situation.
In that light, a wider trend includes bringing back various movies to the screens. Some such films include Laila Majnu, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, to name a few. There is much fan excitement and expectation seen on social media platforms after an announcement from director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, announcing the re-release date on her Instagram account.
In her post, the director wrote: “This Valentine’s, celebrate love and friendship and fill mithaas in your life with our barfis! #BareillyKiBarfi re-releasing in cinemas on 7th Feb.”
Bareilly Ki Barfi has performed wonderfully at the box office, grossing more than Rs. 58 crore from the theatres and the movie was made on a budget of Rs. 20 crores. The movie also benefited from notable performances from Pankaj Tripathi, Seema Pahwa, Rohit Chaudhary, Swati Semwal, and Sapna Sand in the key roles.
Fans can enjoy the film again this February who missed it when it was first released.
