Karan Johar with a career spanning iconic films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, is set to make his OTT debut with a highly hoped web series for Netflix. The project, a passion for the director, will feature a star-studded ensemble of celebrated female actors.
Netflix is set to release its first OTT series, helmed by Karan Johar. The script is finalized, and production is expected to begin in early 2025. The series, starring renowned actors, is considered Netflix’s most ambitious project. The web series will be shot throughout 2025 and streamed in 2026. Karan will also return to the big screen with a grand action film following the web series.
Takht, a film directed by Karan, was set to release in March 2020 but was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The ensemble cast included Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, and Anil Kapoor. Karan then directed Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which was released in 2023 and featured Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi.
