On the anniversary of Mardaani 2’s release, Yash Raj Films formally said today that it will be producing Mardaani 3, with Rani Mukerji in the main role.
Five years after the release of Mardaani 2, Yash Raj Films has formally declared that a third Mardaani film will be produced. In her upcoming role as fiery police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy, Rani Mukerji guaranteed that the film would be more vicious, lethal, and dark than the previous installments in the series.
The release anniversary of Mardaani 2 is today, December 13, 2024, and Yash Raj Films used this occasion to reveal Mardaani 3. The third edition of the highly acclaimed series, which debuted ten years ago, will start filming in April 2025.The main character from the movie series, Rani Mukerji, has stated how excited she is to be back in the franchise. Speaking about her relationship to the position, she acknowledged that donning a police uniform always evokes a unique sense. “The new film will be another tribute to the admirable police officers,” Rani said, adding that she has received a lot of affection over the years for her role as a daring female cop.
They were searching for a script that would further stretch the limits of the Mardaani series, Rani said, sharing behind-the-scenes work on the movie. She is therefore thrilled about what they have and expects that the public will feel the same way in theaters.
The actress alluded to a more serious narrative while describing what was new in the movie. While working on it, Mukerji also admitted that they had to meet the enormous expectations of the spectators. “We’ll try our hardest to fulfill this. Mardaani 3 is violent, sinister, and dark. Therefore, I’m curious to see how people react to our movie. She said, “I hope they give this movie the same amount of love that they have always given it.“
Aayush Gupta, who wrote the hit television series The Railway Men, is the author of the script for the eagerly awaited Mardaani 3. He was highly praised for crafting compelling and intense narratives in the series, and the creators hope their viewers will have an equally exciting experience.
Additionally, Abhiraj Minawala, who previously worked on well-known Yash Raj Films productions like Sultan, Tiger 3, Gunday, and Ranveer Singh’s Band Baaja Baaraat, will direct it. He is currently employed at War 2 as an associate director. In 2026, the movie is expected to be released.
