After the monumental success of Gadar 2, actress Simrat Kaur is ready to once again grace the big screen in her next venture, Vanvaas. This time, she joins an exciting ensemble cast, sharing the spotlight with Utkarsh Sharma and veteran actor Nana Patekar.
- Your debut film Prematho Mee Karthik marked your entry into the film industry. How was that experience, and how do you feel your journey has evolved since then?
I had no plans for movies or acting but this movie was destiny’s play… it was an amazing and extremely difficult journey as it was in telegu language i had to memorise every line i tried to learn the language but this movie made me realise acting is what i want to do for my whole life
- What inspired you to pursue acting, and what were some of the challenges you faced as a newcomer in the industry?
Well my first movie inspired me to pursue acting … when i had signed movie i had no interest but eventually by the end of the shoot i started loving the process of film making so i guess i inspired myself into this… challenges in south were language and i had no idea how the industry works…
And when i started working in Bollywood it was again similar because you’re an outsider you have no idea how things work … how to make connections so yes its been a challenging journey
3.With Gadar 2 being a massive success, how has life changed for you since the release, and what has the response been like from fans and critics?
Life changed in a beautiful way ….One funny difference is now my parents are called by ye tohsimratt ke mummy daddy hai …. Hehehe … and response from the audience has been so warm … aese lagta hai mai unki family member ban gai hu ek hi movie se … and critics has also been so kind to me and im grateful that they trust in me … 🙏🏻
4.What were some of the most memorable moments from the sets of Gadar 2? How did you prepare for your role in a sequel to such an iconic film?
Every day spent on the sets of Gadar2 is memorable and close to my heart as it was my debut everyday i learned something new i experienced something new …
I didn’t prepare much… only thing i did was watch old movies from the era of 50s-70s
5.With the success of Gadar 2, there must be heightened expectations. How do you handle the pressure that comes with being part of a blockbuster?
Well people think after hit actors start quoting really high amounts and for that reason they don’t approach….
Some think 1 movie hit is just a luck lets see your second me ….. and that pressure is really stressful
And with sudden success one doesn’t understand ok now what to do next how to react …life was easier before blockbuster…
6.Your upcoming film Vanvaas is already generating excitement. Could you share more about your role in the movie and what drew you to the project?
After a long time there is a pure family movie coming with amazing emotions of parents kids and life overall …
Only one thing i can say is im playing a banarasi girl and it was amazing character to play after playing a paskistani …
What drew me towards the project was the emotions it holds
7.What can the audience look forward to in Vanvaas, and how does it stand apart from your previous films?
Audience can expect a lot of laughter and crying … from vanvaas please carry tissues …
Gadar was all about love …
Vanvaas is all about family emotions
8.How has it been working with the cast and crew of Vanvaas? Are there any interesting behind-the-scenes stories you’d like to share?
I guess i have been lucky to work again with my director Anil sharma sir and my co actor Utkarsh sharma … and this time i got to work with the legendary Nana Patekar sir .. i have learned so much from him by just observing him … he is a walking master class
9.After Gadar 2, what kind of roles are you interested in? Are there any specific genres or characters you’re eager to explore?
As an actor i just want to do amazing roles where i can showcase my performance thats it im only hungry for amazing roles
10.Can you tell us about any upcoming projects you are working on that you’re excited about?
Well im starting my new project from nov first week and im so excited for this one … i can’t wait to reveal about the project
11.You’ve worked in both Telugu and Hindi cinema. How do you plan to balance your career across both industries as you move forward?
Not just telugu and Bollywood i want to work in every language and when god is kind enough to give me soo much of work im sure he will give me way to balance everything… i believe in universe
12.With all the fame and recognition, how do you manage to stay grounded and focused?
Credit goes to my up bring my parents …i come from a very simple family and one thing my family has taught me is to treat everyone with love and just give love and respect… i was same before gadar im exactly same after that and i pray that i always remain like this … i want to fly high but i will always stay rooted …
13.When you’re not working on films, how do you like to spend your free time?
Free time I mostly just spend time at home listening songs watching old movies back to back ..dance i just keep doing something and if pocket allows i love travelling
14.Who are some of your biggest inspirations in the film industry, and what have you learned from them?
Every person working on a movie set is my inspiration.. from a light man to spot boy … i love how everyone comes daily and gives their 100% for one thing that is movie … and one thing i learned from all this is dedication honestly towards work
15.Reflecting on your journey so far, what has been the most significant learning experience for you?
I am not a trained actor….so the learning experience started by just performing directly in front of camera i learned from myself or by seeing others around me performing… and i think this process will keep going on till my 100th movie 🧿
16.What advice would you give to aspiring actors who look up to you and are just starting their journey in the entertainment world?
Only one advice
Be patient.. believe in yourself and if possible be a bit spiritual .. as luck really matters
