Sooraj Pancholi, son of Bollywood veteran Aditya Pancholi, is coming back to the big screen after a long time with a much-awaited historical biopic. Having made his debut in Hero and having worked in Sattelite Shankar (2019) and Time to Dance (2021), Pancholi has now signed up for a film that will bring forgotten stories of the 14th century to life. The movie is about the untold story of Veer Hamirji Gohil who is an unsung hero; he had played a prominent role in rescuing the prestigious Somnath Temple in Gujarat from the aggressors.
The film will narrate the courageous attempts by Veer Hamirji Gohil who, with his warriors, kept at bay the attack on the temple by Zafar Khan in 1395. Zafar Khan had already attacked the temple several times and surrounded it from three sides. Veer Hamirji Gohil, along with his warriors, bravely fought the battle for ten days before becoming a martyr. This is a film to bring to the fore this heroic yet largely forgotten chapter of Indian history and to pay homage to the sacrifice of Veer Hamirji Gohil.
The biopic is set to be directed by Prince Dhiman, known for his works on Konman and Forever Whim. This film will make the new generation aware of the rich history behind the Somnath Temple and the sacrifices people made to save it. It will be produced by Kanu Chauhan, who is pretty excited about the project.
Details regarding the full cast, shooting schedule, and expected release date are still under wraps. However, the film’s focus on the legend of Somnath holds the potential to not only elevate Sooraj Pancholi’s career but also set a new benchmark for historical dramas in Indian cinema. This biopic is poised to captivate audiences with its rich historical narrative, emotional depth, and gripping portrayal of bravery.
