On Wednesday, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal were spotted traveling to Mumbai together. They will appear together on screen in Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal were seen earlier this week at Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Mumbai office, suggesting that they have started getting ready for the upcoming “triangular love story,” Love & War. On Eid 2026, the movie—which also stars Alia Bhatt—will be released in theaters.
Vicky and Ranbir at the IAF base
Since Wednesday, images of Ranbir and Vicky grinning and posing with an Indian Air Force official while wearing casual T-shirts, caps, and sunglasses have been making the rounds on social media. The photos are from the IAF base in Bikaner, Rajasthan, which the two actors visited on Wednesday, presumably as part of the Love & War preparations, according to a Times of India report. Does that mean that in Bhansali’s film, Vicky and Ranbir are both portraying Air Force pilots?
Fans have been speculating that this “triangular love story” is a remake of Raj Kapoor’s 1964 cult movie Sangam, which starred him, Rajendra Kumar, and Vyjayanthimala, ever since it was revealed. But Bhansali denied the rumor in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India. “Mother India and Sholay shouldn’t be remade. What makes me want to remake Sangam, then? Though he isn’t replicating any of his films, Bhansali acknowledged that he is a huge admirer and disciple of the late director Raj Kapoor. He asserted that, in contrast to the bulk of his recent work, Love & War is an original film and is not set in a historical setting. It’s up to date. It’s a distinct kind of music. I’m having fun in this new area,” Bhansali continued.
Love & War features a number of reunions, including those between Bhansali and Ranbir 19 years after the latter’s first movie, Saawariya; Bhansali and Alia following their 2022 hit, Gangubai Kathiawadi; Ranbir and Vicky following Sanju (2018); Alia and Vicky following Raazi (2018); and Ranbir and Alia following Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. The film’s production company, Bhansali Productions, will support it.
