The first glimpse of actor Tabu in Dune: Prophecy as Sister Francesca is at last released. And the actor has said that she accepted the prequel series “without batting an eyelid” to Denis Villeneuve’s wildly successful Dune films.
Tabu appears in the initial glimpse wearing all-black clothing and sporting a ponytail. She is displaying strong feelings. The actor is thrilled that the creators trusted her with this character and is ecstatic to be joining the Dune universe. “Since I was approached for the role of Sister Francesca in Dune: Prophecy, I said yes without a second thought. It has been an incredible experience,” Tabu stated in a statement.
“It’s an actor’s joy to be trusted by the creators with a character that is so fascinating, captivating, intelligent, and emotionally potent,” the actress continued. Needless to say, exploring the depths of her complexity was such an engrossing process. I can’t wait to share her tale with JioCinema’s Indian and international audience. I can’t wait for people all over the world to explore the Dune Universe since it has so much rich history and intrigue. Stay tuned to see me a bit later in the season.
Sister Francesca, played by Tabu, is characterised as a “strong, intelligent, and alluring” woman who leaves a lasting impact. The logline reads, “Her return to the palace upsets the delicate balance of power in the capital once the great love of the Emperor.” Dune: Prophecy, which is set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ ascension, follows two Harkonnen sisters as they fight evil forces that threaten humanity’s destiny and found the legendary Bene Gesserit sect. JioCinema Premium will be the only place in India to stream the series. The release date is yet unknown, though.
Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Johdi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, and Shalom Brune-Franklin are among the cast members of Dune: Prophecy, in addition to Tabu.
The trilogy takes place ten thousand years before the events of Frank Herbert’s landmark book “Dune,” which Denis just divided into two sections. The two films, titled 2021 and 2023, starred Charlotte Rampling as the Emperor’s Bene Gesserit Truthsayer, Reverend Mother Mohiam, and Timothee Chalamet as Paul’s Bene Gesserit mother, Lady Jessica. Diane Ademu-John co-developed the series with showrunner and executive producer Alison Schapker. HBO and Legendary Television co-produce it.
