In the thriller that Hansal Mehta helms, The Buckingham Murders brings all her wit and acumen to bear upon the crime. The much-awaited trailer of the movie has just been released. It tells viewers about the mysterious and intrigue-filled world that Kareena Kapoor Khan’s character, Jasmeet Bhamra, moves into.
It starts with a grieving mother and detective, Jasmeet Bhamra, questioning some suspects as to where they were that fateful evening of November 14th. Tension mounts in Buckinghamshire because, a murder dealing with a 10-year-old boy, it puts the community in shock. A Muslim teenager was then taken into custody amid all this turbulence.
Kareena’s character is indecisive in finding the root of this, and the more she digs deeper, there is much that makes her life difficult. The movie will hook viewers because every resident is a suspect. The trailer hints at a society that has been pushed to its chaotic edges, and as Jasmeet investigates, the fear of suspicion grips them. Her search for justice is fraught with roadblocks at each step, and an accusing finger is pointed at her, saying she has created unrest with her relentless pursuit to find answers.
But not only is Kareena Kapoor Khan starring in The Buckingham Murders, but she is also presenting her maiden production with the same. Kareena has said during various interviews that she did the film at a time when there wasn’t any such work coming on her way that could excite her. She drew her inspiration from Kate Winslet’s detective role in the critically acclaimed series Mare of Easttown and considered that role a motivation for her character in this movie.
“I love Mare of Easttown, and when Hansal came to me, I said this is something that I’ve really been dying to do,” Kareena told Variety in 2023. Indeed, her portrayal of Jasmeet Bhamra shows that passion as she instills depth and intensity into the character that will be so relatable to audiences.
Kareena leads the movie with a promising ensemble cast, including Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen. The script is bound to keep many more guesses than one can think of, written by Aseem Arora, Kashyap Kapoor, and Raghav Raj Kakker. The film is presented by Mahana Films in association with TBM Films and is well-supported by Balaji Telefilms. Producers Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, and Kareena Kapoor Khan have been relentless in bringing this dream into culmination.
The Buckingham Murders is set to hit theatres on September 13, 2024. With its gripping storyline and powerful performances, added with Kareena Kapoor Khan’s highly anticipated debut as a producer, this is all set to steal the show amidst the releases this year.
The icing on the cake for Kareena’s fans is that she has two more big films in store: Daayra by Meghna Gulzar and one of the most awaited projects, Singham Again by Rohit Shetty. From what The Buckingham Murders trailer illustrates, Kareena Kapoor Khan is quite geared up to present herself with meatier roles, both as an actor and a producer, and promise her audience a cinematic memorable experience.
