Famed for his roles in the television shows Taaza Khabar and Dhindora, actor and content creator Bhuvan Bam recently hit 5 billion views on his YouTube channel. Even though the content creator turned actor hasn’t released any new material in the last nine months, he’s happy that people are still watching his videos. Speaking with Hindustan Times, Bhuvan expressed his happiness at surpassing 5 billion views on YouTube.
It’s a wonderful sensation. Who could ever come up with such a huge figure? Over the span of seven and a half years, it feels like “haan, kuch to khaas kiya hai” now, he said. Despite being busy with his acting and writing jobs, the actor stated that he still misses creating content. “Of course, I miss it every day,” he said. I often assume that I’ll write something and upload it today, but my workload has gotten heavier. I have started writing half-episodes on a lot of topics, but in order to finish them, I must put aside other things and dedicate all of my attention to this. But those days are gone from me in terms of luxury.
Actors Aahana S. Kumra and Abhishek Banerjee have voiced worry about how influencers are replacing actors in playing roles and how this is impacting actors. Considering that Bhuvan is an internet native, he revealed that influencers tend to be given preference by producers and OTT platforms. Since “influencer culture” has taken over, I completely get where they are coming from. Every producer or over-the-top platform grows biassed in their advantage. Additionally, persons are caste based on how many followers they have. Thus, he said, “Jo log bol rahe hain, wo ek hadd tak sahi bol rahe hain kyunki hamara format aur platform alag hai, way of approach towards content alag hai.
“According to Bhuvan, it’s really difficult to get accepted in this industry. He went on, “I always say that gadhe thode se aage hi hain, gadhe desh mein gadhe aur ghode saath mein daud rahe hain. And in every field, this mentality holds true. People are still introduced as “ye youtube se hai” nowadays, and the bias is evident. In this field, acceptance is extremely difficult to come by. Some are able to get employment, while those who are unable to do so are focussing only on digital activities.
Finding an OTT project or a movie is everyone’s ultimate objective. Therefore, the battle is to find employment because perceptions do not change. Regarding work, on September 27, Bhuvan Bam’s “Taaza Khabar” second season will premiere on Over-the-Top (OTT) platforms.
