Starring Vikrant Massey in a lead role, the film had a theatrical release on November 15, 2024. Fans can now stream the film on ZEE5, with its OTT premiere scheduled for Wednesday, November 9.
About the Film: The Sabarmati Report follows the gripping journey of Samar Kumar (played by Vikrant Massey), a dedicated journalist investigating the 2002 Godhra train burning incident in Gujarat. His pursuit of the truth leads him to uncover a dangerous conspiracy involving powerful figures determined to keep their secrets hidden. Despite his efforts, Samar’s investigation is silenced by Manika Rajpurohit (Riddhi Dogra). Years later, reporter Amrita Gill (Raashii Khanna) stumbles upon Samar’s hidden report and, with his old findings, embarks on a mission to expose the truth. Together, they unravel a web of corruption and deceit, risking their lives to bring the conspiracy to light.
Controversy and Reception: The film, while garnering both praise and criticism, stirred controversy upon its release. Despite the criticism, it was declared tax-free in several states governed by the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). Prominent BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, attended a screening and lauded the film for “bringing out the truth.” Following the film’s release, Vikrant Massey announced a break from acting, citing burnout and his desire to spend more time with his family, including his newborn son, Vardaan.
