Alia Bhatt is receiving acclaim from fans and colleagues alike for the teaser for her forthcoming action drama, Jigra, which premiered on Sunday. However, the teaser release has triggered a new argument on Twitter (X) about whether she is currently the ‘largest Bollywood actress’. Shraddha Kapoor’s fans were clearly not on board with the concept. A feud erupted between the two actors’ admirers and fanclubs, with each claiming the title of ‘Queen of Bollywood’.
The two artistes, however, maintain a friendly demeanor. Shraddha used Instagram Stories to appreciate Jigra’s teaser. “Ye toh theatre mein bhai ke saath dekhna hai (I need to watch this in the theatre with my brother),” she’d written. “Kamaal ladki hai Alia Bhatt, yeh fantastic trailer hai Vasan Bala (Alia is such a wonderful girl). The trailer is wonderful),” she wrote in her Instagram post, re-sharing the teaser.
War between the fans
Following the trailer’s release, Alia’s fans dubbed her the’real female superstar of Bollywood’, a title formerly held by Shraddha Kapoor following the success of her film Stree 2.
A person wrote, “Playing a 20-30 minute role in a multi-starrer picture is not female-centric. This is what female-centricity looks like.” They appeared to be mocking Shraddha’s film Stree 2, which starred Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, and others. Shraddha played a little yet essential role in the film.
“Acting of Alia in that two-minute teaser>> Shraddha in that whole overhyped movie,” another commenter said. In a tweet, it was stated, “Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, and Maddock Universe cameos, but Alia Bhatt will crush corporate lady star Shraddha Kapoor without any sequel hype.”
Vasan Bala, the director of Jigra, has also expressed regret to Shraddha’s followers on Instagram.
Shraddha was also recently involved in a ‘credit fight’ with Stree co-star Rajkummar Rao. Multiple social media posts attributed either of the two actors with the film’s success, which many suspected was part of the stars’ public relations strategy to seek attention. Co-stars Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Bannerjee, and director Amar Kaushik all reacted on it. Jigra portrays the story of Satya, a tough lady who is willing to turn the world upside down to save her brother. It appears to be a prison break film. Jigra is produced by Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, and was written by Vasan Bala. It was originally slated to be released on September 27. It also features Vedang Raina as Alia’s brother. Stree 2 has earned over ₹800 crore at the box office, making it one of India’s biggest Hindi films and surpassing Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan.
