On October 23, the Baahubali star turned 45. With unmatched devotion supporting his singular success story, the pan-Indian star has established a distinctive niche for himself both domestically and abroad and is a formidable force at the box office. A Prabhas film ensures such high box office returns that, with him as the star, unthinkable projects in Indian cinema are being funded—Kalki 2898 AD is the most recent example.
In his little more than 20-year career, Prabhas has accomplished something that no other South actor has been able to do. With his films selling at the box office outside of his own state, he has taken over the Hindi market and is now known as a genuine blue pan-India star.
After Baahubali (2015) was released, Prabhas shot to national prominence. SS Rajamouli’s masterpiece was positioned as the film that would influence Indian cinema going forward, and it did just that. Prabhas proved a draw for the audience despite its innovative visual effects and screenplay. Prabhas and Rajamouli brought the public to the big screens to witness a South cinema spectacle, even though the popularity of films with South stars was already well-established in the Hindi-speaking regions due to satellite TV and dubbed versions of feature films available on YouTube. Baahubali proved that films can transcend language barriers by doing exceptionally well in Rajasthan, Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, and Punjab.
The 2017 release of Baahubali 2 was an even greater success—an accomplishment never seen before. On its debut day in Hindi, it brought in ₹41 crore, and within the first week, it brought in ₹247 crore. Only Yash’s KGF 2 has earned more money than it did in its lifespan in Hindi, which is ₹510.99 crore (for a South film). Even now, the number of people visiting the Hindi marketplaces has not changed.
Telugu filmmakers actively promoted their films in the North when Prabhas became well-known in India thanks to SS Rajamouli’s two-part action franchise, frequently casting a well-known Bollywood actress opposite the Rebel star. Following Baahubali’s popularity, Saaho (2019) made ₹24.40 crore on its first day of release in Hindi. The movie, which costarred Shraddha Kapoor, made ₹145.67 crore in Hindi alone, out of a total of ₹310 crore in India, despite receiving mediocre reviews.
Adipurush (2023) made ₹37.25 crore, which was an even greater opening in Hindi. Even though it was a failure, Prabhas’ co-stars Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon made the most money at the box office with the movie.

Prabhas’ box office performance in the North markets was untouched by Adipurush’s failure and negative reviews. On its first day, Prashanth Neel’s action-packed, gritty drama Salaar made over ₹15 crore. The launching of Dunki had an impact on its business in Hindi. Salaar was a success in Hindi, earning over ₹150 crore despite a confrontation with a Bollywood heavyweight.
Kalki, who lived in 2898 AD, continued the success.Prabhas’ most recent film is now the highest box office success of 2024 and fared better in Hindi than Telugu. Despite being around for decades, South megastars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Nagarjuna, and Ravi Teja, to mention a few, have not been able to break into the Hindi market like Prabhas.
While ‘Darling’ continues to hold the top spot, even the new generation of stars, like Thalapathy Vijay, Ram Charan, and Jr. NTR, have had difficulty finding their audience.
These are Prabhas’s top five films.
