Ekta Kapoor is gearing up for a slew of exciting projects, showcasing her versatility and knack for innovative storytelling. Her upcoming film Sambarmati Report, starring Vikrant Massey, is set to release on November 15, exploring the harrowing 2022 Godhra train burning incident. This project reflects Ekta’s inclination towards creating impactful cinema rooted in real-life events.
Looking ahead, Ekta is collaborating with acclaimed director Priyadarshan for Bhooth Bangla, a horror-comedy starring Akshay Kumar. Slated for release in 2025, the film is already generating buzz, promising a mix of laughs and chills. Another anticipated project is Vann, directed by Deepak Mishra of Panchayat fame and featuring Siddharth Malhotra in the lead. With pre-production for both films already underway, they are expected to begin filming in early 2025.
Adding to her impressive slate, Ekta has roped in Rahi Anil Barve, the visionary behind Tumbbad, for a high-concept feature film. A self-proclaimed fan of Tumbbad, Ekta was captivated by Barve’s creative prowess and has entrusted him to craft a compelling cinematic experience. The project, currently in the scripting phase, aims to begin production next year. Ekta plans to cast a prominent actor from the younger generation, ensuring the film appeals to a broad audience.
In the horror genre, Ekta is also revisiting her successful Ragini MMS franchise. Rajat Arora has been commissioned to develop Ragini MMS 3, which will feature three stunning female leads. The screenplay is in progress, and production is expected to commence in 2025.
While Ragini MMS 3 and Barve’s feature film are distinct projects, both represent Ekta’s commitment to delivering diverse and bold stories.
