But wait, there’s more, the already hit film just got a whole lot bigger with the addition of none other than Varun Dhawan!
An exclusive on Pinkvilla says that Varun Dhawan has locked a deal for co-leading Border 2 with Sunny Deol. That brings the action legend of Bollywood in partnership with one of the most dynamic young stars, setting the stage for perhaps the most ambitious war film to have ever been made in Indian cinema history.
The original Border held a specific place in the hearts of moviegoers, as it encapsulates the bravery and sacrifices of Indian soldiers during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Now, with producers Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, and director Anurag Singh at the helm, this sequel claims to build on that legacy with a cinematic experience that is bigger and better than any in every way.
This is big, really big, for an actor who is reportedly an ardent fan of the Border franchise. Close sources from the unit revealed this role of his, adding to the elusive youth audience while keeping the intrinsic appeal of the film. If there’s going to be anyone who can create magic on screen, it has to be Sunny Deol’s iconic presence with Varun’s energetic performance.
The shooting for Border 2 is going to commence in November 2024, and the film is slated for a massive Republic Day 2026 release. The pre-production work is in full swing, as is the prep of the entire team, that has been going round the clock in preparation for this sequel to set new benchmarks while being at par with the original.
