In support of Rohit Sharma’s decision to withdraw from the most recent test match, Vidya Balan tweeted. Her team clarified in a statement that she was moved by his altruistic effort after she was harassed for her post.
Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian cricket team, startled the cricketing world with his erratic action. In the 2024–2025 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the sports star willingly stepped back from the Sydney Test match between Australia and India for the unknown. Online users responded to his move in a variety of ways.
Actress Vidya Balan, however, found it touching. She therefore supported him on Twitter. She was allegedly involved in the publicity stunt that Sharma and his colleagues planned, though. Balan’s team has since responded, saying that she only posted because his gesture of selflessness touched her.
Bollywood star Vidya Balan took to X (previously Twitter) on January 4 to express support for Rohit Sharma and his brave decision to withdraw from the Sydney Test match between Australia and India. The Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 actress wrote, “Rohit Sharma, what a SUPERSTAR!” in the post. It takes bravery to stop and catch your breath. More strength to you. @ImRo45, respect.
Soon later, a number of astute internet users discovered proof that she was involved in Rohit Sharma’s publicity hoax. According to some, she just copied and pasted the wording that the Indian captain’s public relations team supplied her. Balan’s team has now responded forcefully to all of the bullying, claiming that she only tweeted because she was moved by “his selfless act.”
“Let it be unequivocally stated that Ms. Balan posted this completely of her own volition because she was moved by his selfless act, and NOT by request from his PR team,” the actress’s management said in response to the rumors surrounding her tweet. Although Ms. Balan is not a huge sports fan, she admires people who maintain their composure and dignity in the face of adversity. It is utterly absurd to suggest that her actions were anything other than an instinctive response to something she admired. (sic)
Actor-director Farhan Akhtar also wrote a meaningful message about Rohit Sharma in addition to Vidya. The Dil Chahta Hai creator referred to the Indian cricket player as a “superstar” in his Instagram post and congratulated him for demonstrating to the world that he prioritized the Indian cricket team before himself.
